A consistent set up is critical to replicating a fundamentally sound baseball or softball swing. The MillerMat is a reversible baseball swing trainer (and softball swing trainer) for both left handed and right handed hitters. It gets you into the perfect stance, every time.
The MillerMat is easy to use: 1) Step your front foot in the strap 2) Find a spider for your back foot that works with your height 3) Toes on the center line 4) Bend your knees
You're ready!
No more reminders for baseball and softball players to "line your feet up!"
A powerful baseball or softball swing begins with the lower half. The MillerMat provides a constant reminder to turn your body so that you can turn the barrel. The front foot strap is adjustable and the front foot marking is set slightly open on an angle to enable a full hip turn.
Hitting off a strong front side is imperative in baseball and softball. All the power and torque of the turn has to transfer up the kinetic chain and into the arms and hands. The only way to use ground forces is to keep your front foot planted during the swing and the front foot strap helps the player to train this consistently.
You know you are balanced if you can "stick the finish" AFTER you swing. Proper footwork fosters balance before, during, and after the baseball or softball swing.
The front foot strap teaches ”quiet feet” before, during, and after the baseball or softball swing. It trains the player to not slide their feet around when swinging. Players actually FEEL what they need to do in order to swing correctly. When they can master staying connected to the ground - a stride can be added to their swing.
Balance, a proper stance, and a powerful turn are all at the cornerstone of a great baseball or softball swing. The MillerMat is a lower-body coaching tool that helps any coach or parent to teach their players to leverage the ground correctly to generate maximum power during the swing, from Launch Position. The MillerMat is an intuitive tool that players of all ages can understand how to use in a matter of minutes.
We are a family-owned company based in Nashville, Tennessee.
The MillerMat was originally developed for our son Miller. When he was a very young player, we were constantly reminding him to get into a correct stance and to use his lower body to swing. His feet were often misaligned, he would swing with only his arms, and his feet were always sliding around. Miller is a visual learner, like so many other kids. He needed to SEE and FEEL what he needed to do, rather than listening to constant direction and demonstration. We tried so many things to reinforce this but nothing worked. After years of variations, The MillerMat was born. When he used the mat for the first time, it immediately clicked for him. After a few weeks, his feet were always in the correct position. He learned what it felt like to have balance and to use his lower body to create power in his swing.
As a former Division I Baseball Second Baseman at Georgetown University, I was fortunate enough to be a .300+ hitter and was a student of the game. I was always enamored by the technical aspects of hitting. I was also blessed to be taught by some amazing hitting coaches during my career. More importantly - as a coach - I have over 20 years of experience working with players of all ages, abilities, and learning styles. One thing is for certain: Every player is different. One major lesson that I learned along the way in coaching is that it doesn't matter how good a player you were - or what knowledge you have of the game. Instead, coaching comes down to your ability to connect with and explain your knowledge to a young player - in a certain way - so that you can have an impact.
The MillerMat can be used as a cornerstone in the coaching process. It can help both young players who are building their swings and older players who need to master the basics. Watching a player's mechanics and confidence improve after just a few swings on The MillerMat is truly remarkable.
The MillerMat is a proven tool for parents and coaches to help their players realize their full potential. It has helped players, of all levels, across the country....... now in over 40 states, as well as Canada, Korea, Mexico, and Australia after just launching The MillerMat in 2022!

When working with a young hitter, or an advanced hitter that needs to get back to basics, you have to keep things simple. In a game, the player has to recognize the pitch, stride, get their foot down on-time, swing properly, AND maintain balance. That is A LOT going on all at once - especially when they are learning to swing.
A sound coaching approach is to:
1) First, ensure that the player can demonstrate making a mechanically sound swing without taking a stride. So many players move their feet around. Practicing swinging and keeping their feet in the same location as they started in - with the back foot turning
2) Next, and when ready, they can practice lifting their front foot and putting it right back down. The mat is light enough that a player can lift and land
3) Finally, the player can be taught to coil and make a forward move with their foot (i.e. a full stride). The strap can be removed at this point. The mat can be used to ensure that they are taking a straight step (and not stepping out). The foot markings provide this visual for them
The MillerMat is an early progression tool, meaning, it is meant to work on the fundamentals of the swing BEFORE a stride is implemented. More advanced players use it to work on no-stride drills. If you have a young player, we recommend putting it down on the driveway or back yard and using it every time you are swinging with them. We start with the tee. It is good to use basic direction: "stance, swing, freeze." Do it in slow motion at first. Eventually work up to front toss. Make sure your front toss is straight and on a line (no arch!). As they progress, we work up to full batting practice. You will see that over time, the proper footwork becomes second nature to them. With our advanced players, we use the mat to stabilize the lower half WHILE we are working on bat path drills for the upper half (connection balls, resistance bans, PVC drills etc.)
Customer service is at the heart of what we do. We provide a lifetime warranty on parts (straps, buckles, and hardware). Our warranty on the mat itself is 60 days from the date of purchase. If you are not completely satisfied with your MillerMat, you may return it to us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund (please pay return shipping).
The MillerMat should be used on a flat surface. It is important not fasten the players foot into the stirrup so tightly so as to restrict motion. It should be treated as a reminder to keep contact with the ground rather than to forcefully hold it down. The mat should be rolled up after use as it could present a tripping hazard if left out. The mat should NOT be used during game situations in which a player hits and runs.
We offer FREE shipping as part of our package. Shipping is typically 3-5 days - from when your order is filled - depending on your shipping address in proximity to Nashville, Tennessee. DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND WE ARE DEALING WITH A MASSIVE ORDER VOLUME. WE WILL FILL YOUR ORDER ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS AS QUICKLY AS WE CAN. WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR PATIENCE.
The MillerMat is easy to clean. It can be sprayed down with a hose. Feel free to use soap and water if it gets really dirty.
Hitters of all ages and ability levels can benefit from the feedback that The MillerMat provides. The mat is one-size-fits-all. It works great for very young athletes when building a player's swing. It is also built so that it can accommodate a full grown high school, college, or professional player that needs to get back to basics. We have sold mats to Major and Minor League ballclubs. Our recommendation is to use it, consistently, to ensure that the fundamentals become engrained.
